After Christmas Post

 It is almost Christmas (this will not be uploaded until after Christmas) and my sims play time has been severely lacking for awhile. I thought I would load the game up and try to do some recording but EA's infinite wisdom strikes again. The app decided that I didn't have any games installed and needed to reinstall everything. Now, if I did such sloppy work I would have been fired so why is that EA calls this presentable? When you pay money for something it should not be held hostage with requiring you to connect to the internet, nor because the app has programming errors, mistakes or just bad programming (I don't know). It is very frustrating and I should just take my money elsewhere. My funds in itself will not make EA stop, look or listen or change their headlong strategy in destroying sims and possibly their company but it might save me from having high blood pressure.
Life By You looks like it is going to be a good game though it hasn't been released and so does Paralives. There is of course the Inzoi being developed that also looks intriguing then there is Alterlife. These games have potential though none have been released. I have said that when one of them does I'm going to purchase it and try it out. I'm sure when one does and I buy it then I'll be doing the comparison between sims and the new game. Yes, Life By You has an expected early access release date of March 5, 2024. I have been watching various Youtuber's give their differing opinions about these new prospective games. It sounds very exciting though I realize that often what the vision and hope is from the programmers, designers, ect. is often not the end result. It doesn't make it less gamewise. It just makes it different and for some gamers that is very aggravating since they were expecting one thing and received another.
So today I did a test after having Nvidia uninstall and reinstall its driver. I had it do a clean install which has worked wonders for the sound but only minimal difference in the video recording. I have done all I know to do for the video recording/playback but changing settings, trying to limit things to individual cores and even searching for alternative programs hasn't been successful. In my opinion I need (well a new computer) a new graphics card. More ram would be nice but my machine is old and it has the maximum it can hold now.
On other news I took the plunge and purchased High School Years since it is on sale for $20 (rounded up). Of course one could argue that if I saved that $20 towards upgrading my machine that I would be able to resume video's sooner but.... Beings that to really upgrade means spending a great deal more than $20 which will take me quite some time to save I think that High School Years will bring less frustration. Not to mention that the savings will most likely be dipped into for repairs for something. That seems to be the way it works.
It's like a gentleman who has been helping us out decided to fix something without telling me. He apparently assumed if he fixed it then told me how much that I would sell it to him. It is very upsetting for someone to do that. He removed the item from our property then took it on himself to do something that he didn't have permission or authority to do. On one hand I want to handle it diplomatically and on the other hand I agree with my ex. Demand the item returned, report him for theft if it isn't and tell him he will have to take payments.
Today has been a sad day. Our kitty cat hasn't been doing well. She had refused to eat which for her is very unusual and we tried different types of foods. We found a canned cat food that she would partially eat but she started struggling to stand so we took her to the kitty doctor. Unfortunately, the doc said her kidneys and liver were failing and she was unlikely to survive. She was in a great deal of pain so we said our goodbyes and let the Vet put her to sleep. She will be sorely missed. She believed she was queen of the world and she wasn't afraid to let you know it. She loved to chase bugs and growl and hiss at the dog. Our other cat is a very easy going cat. She would get pissy and he took it as play so he would happily play with her while she angrily batted, growled and scratched at him. It is a hole in our life and it is too close to Christmas.
I hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas. It is my plan to continue to maintain the blog until I can.... Well, I intend to continue the blog and hopefully one of these days I will be able to record video again.
My ex and I decided we would purchase a cpu for his old motherboard to test if the cpu was fried or the motherboard. Since it is an old motherboard the cpu isn't that expensive. If the cpu isn't the issue then my son will get an upgraded cpu. He has a compatible motherboard.
If the motherboard works then I will have an upgraded motherboard and a graphics card. So this is the future plan. My ex's old computer guts to upgrade my old computer. The thing is I will have to purchase Win 11. I know I could buy something else but I see no reason to. Microsoft has decided that the license belongs to the motherboard and they made my ex purchase a new license for his Win 10. He was upset since he had paid for it once. I think it is high way robbery and that laws should be enacted to prevent these companies from extorting people like this. It should be covered under the laws governing purchasing a product more than once. I forget the actual name of the law. I do know it exists.
Yes, I'm complaining again.
Ok! So it is after New Years. I hope every one had a good New Year. Ours was low key.
My birthday is the last day of the year so my son fixed a steak dinner for myself and my ex came out. It was a very good meal. He is such a wonderful cook.
Hopefully, I'll get this uploaded by next Wednesday though things have been a bit busy lately.
