Dear Blog: Update
Dear Blog;
Today.... Huh! Well... Let's start off with the light stuff. I've been playing Call of the Wild: The Hunter. I love it. It is a beautiful game in my opinion and the animals are a work of art. There are some things I would love to change of course.
I would like there to be food and water dishes and a bed for the dog in every cabin, lodge or run down abode in the game. After all, what is my dog doing for food and water? Most of the beds are just twin size and some look terribly uncomfortable so I imagine my character would prefer to sleep in the sleeping bag on the floor but where does my poor dog sleep? On the floor? And some of those places have a wood stove the poor doggie will get awfully cold. It is bad enough that if the pc rides the atv the doggie can't hop on and ride to. His poor little paws are so tired from jogging along with the atv that he doesn't feel like tracking when we reach our destination! It is inhumane! Also, the dog has registered a complaint because there are no wells or water pumps and no wash basin. He says his human smells terrible and that says something for a dog. So what is my pc suppose to do? Bath in the creek or the lake? And I thought we weren't suppose to scare the animals.
Of course I think there should be more animals. The North American Lion should inhabit any reserve situated there and where are the possums in the south? It probably wouldn't hurt to throw a skunk in not for hunting but for that problematic critter that shows up when it is least expected. Oh, so you thought you were taking down a five point buck, eh? Well, Mrs. Skunk here is filing a protest with her tail. Away runs that beautiful buck and then my pc is going to have to find a way to alleviate
that skunk smell.
There should also be things like quests in the multiplayer portion. When I play multiplayer with friends we hunt together and we aren't trying to compete. 'You flag right and I'll go left and we'll see if we can manage to peg one between the two of us', or take down a large critter like an African Lion together.
Yes, I have read the discord complaints. People complain about there being quests but I quite enjoy them. They do teach you about the game and some game mechanics but they can provide a nice distraction and interesting stories.
I would also like to see more character creation choices and maybe some prettier ones?
I also agree with people that boats should be available and not just for the fast travel points they are now. I envision rowing across the river, lake or pond either in a canoe or a row boat. Maybe even being able to shoot from the boat at a critter on the shoreline.
It has glitches. I once saw a deer trying to run through the bridge with its nose on the pavement and its hind legs straight up in the air behind its nose. It was interesting. Also, some kills don't materialize. There is blood. There is the red on the map but the creature is invisible. I've also backed an atv up a tree. That was an interesting parking spot and it certainly saved space.
It irritates me that I can kill a duck on the water but I can't go get it because swimming isn't allowed or necessary apparently. Did someone tell the ducks that?
There are mountains in the distance that don't completely render or are not complete and have gaps that show blue through them.
Each reserve seems to have its own set of rules. Some reserves when you spot an animal the spot doesn't stay long enough for you to even get your weapon out. Of course I would like to spot more than one animal and be able to mark more than one spot with different colored markers. A marker to mark the area I want to travel to and another to mark the last spot I saw the animal I shot at.
Which leads me to animals that get shot and fall down but never bleed, apparently, even if you have knocked them down three times. Often these same animals don't leave tracks. I suspect they are from the ghost animal kingdom here to haunt and torment me.
How about being able to clean your guns and perhaps improve their performance? Of course I might implement a gun maintenance and repair mechanic but that maybe too much to ask for in a game that has a great deal going on.
There are a great many things that I would love to see in the game but only because I love it so much.
In other news, my ex bought himself a new monitor and gave me his old one so now no more flickering monitor.
Health wise? Well, we are still waiting. The last test showed no cancer but abnormal cells. I'm scheduled to see another specialist to determine where to go from here. I know that I have been extremely tired and for a person that fights chronic fatigue anyway that is bad. I also have abdominal pain and other issues.
Will I get back to doing video's? I hope so. I've even played with the idea of trying to do a let's play with COTW: The Hunter and I've done some recording but nothing I want to upload. I'm very bad at this game so that is why I should do a let's play and call it How Not To Play COTW. It certainly should be good for a laugh at least.
Anyway, I thought I should give an update on my status. Sorry for the run on sentences and improper grammar that I'm certain this post is full of. I'm not an English teacher or an American Slanguage teacher and the longer I'm out of school the less I know.
Take care everyone. I hope you are having a great year. And watch out for those disappearing critters they may sneak up behind you or haunt you in your dreams. Their tricky that way.
